Prime Food Processing LLC has issued a voluntary recall of its Dried Herring Fish due to inadequate evisceration, which poses a risk of botulism. The recall affects 69 cases of the product.

Affected Products:

  • Item #AF4110 – Dried Herring Fish
  • Lot Code: 26020
  • Expiration Date: 06.12.28
  • Packaging: Clear, plastic 7 oz bag with blue trim

The products were distributed to Asian grocery stores in several states, including AZ, CA, FL, HI, IL, KS, LA, MD, MO, NC, NH, NV, NY, OK, PA, TX, and UT.

Reason for Recall:

The recall was initiated after routine testing by the New York Department of Agriculture and Markets revealed the issue. The uneviscerated fish may harbor Clostridium botulinum spores, which can lead to botulism. This problem was traced back to an imported product from Vietnam.

Health Risks:

Botulism symptoms include dizziness, blurred or double vision, difficulty speaking or swallowing, breathing difficulties, muscle weakness, abdominal distension, and constipation. Immediate medical attention is advised for anyone experiencing these symptoms.

Consumer Action:
