El Eden Import Distributor Corp., based in Long Island City, N.Y., has issued a recall for approximately 264 pounds of potato chip products containing chicharrón (pork cracklings). These products were produced in the Republic of Colombia, which is not authorized to export meat products to the United States.
The recalled items include:
- 45-g. foil bags of “De Todito NATURAL” mixed chips with “CHICHARRÓN AMERICANO JACKS,” “Margarita,” and “NATU CHIPS.”
- 45-g. foil bags of “De Todito BBQ” mixed chips with “CHICHARRÓN AMERICANO JACKS,” “Margarita,” and “NatuChips.”
These products lack import marks on their labels and were distributed to locations in New Jersey and Utah. The issue was identified following a consumer complaint about “De Todito” snacks containing dried plantains, potato chips, and chicharrónes imported from Colombia.
There have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury from consuming these products. However, consumers are advised not to eat them. Instead, they should dispose of the products or return them to the place of purchase.
