Recall Alert: Illegal Import of Grace Chicken Vienna Sausages
Public Health Alert
This is a USDA/FSIS Public Health Alert. Unlike a recall, the company has not issued a voluntary recall, but FSIS is alerting consumers to a potential food safety concern.
A public health alert has been issued for canned chicken Vienna-style sausages illegally imported from Jamaica. These products are not eligible for export to the United States.
Affected Products:
- 140-g. cans of “GRACE READY TO EAT CHICKEN VIENNA SAUSAGES”
- 140-g. cans of “GRACE READY TO EAT CHICKEN VIENNA SAUSAGES HOT & SPICY”
The products bear the establishment number “EST. NO G-01” inside the Jamaica mark of inspection and were distributed to retail locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, and Texas.
Reason for Recall:
The recall was initiated after routine surveillance activities discovered the illegal importation of these products. Jamaica is not approved to export meat or poultry products to the U.S.
Consumer Guidance:
Consumers are advised not to consume these products. They should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase. There have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury, but anyone concerned should contact a healthcare provider.
