Ola-Ola Pounded Yam Recalled for Undeclared Milk Allergen
Class I Recall — Most Serious
This is a Class I recall — the most serious type. Products covered by this recall may cause serious health consequences or death.
Fayus Inc., operating as Yusol International Foods, has issued a voluntary recall of its Ola-Ola Pounded Yam product due to the presence of an undeclared milk allergen, specifically sodium caseinate. This recall affects products distributed between December 2025 and May 2026 in Canada, Australia, and several U.S. states including California, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, and Texas.
The recall was initiated after an internal investigation revealed that some packages did not disclose the presence of sodium caseinate, a milk-derived allergen. The issue was traced back to a temporary breakdown in the company's production and packaging processes. No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumers with a milk allergy or sensitivity should avoid consuming the affected product, which can be identified by expiration dates from November 2028 through May 2029. These products are packaged in clear bags. Consumers are advised to check the expiration date on the front of the packaging.
Fayus Inc. is actively working to apply warning stickers to products still on store shelves. Consumers may return the product to the place of purchase for an exchange or a product with the correct labeling. For further assistance, consumers can contact Fayus Inc. directly. The company apologizes for any inconvenience and remains committed to product safety and quality.
