Class I Recall — Most Serious
This is a Class I recall — the most serious type. Products covered by this recall may cause serious health consequences or death.
CS Beef Packers, LLC, based in Kuna, Idaho, is recalling approximately 22,912 pounds of raw ground beef due to potential contamination with E. coli O145. This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The affected products include:
- Cardboard cases with eight 10-lb. chubs of “BEEF, COARSE GROUND, 73 L” (case code 18601), “Use/Freeze By: 02/04/26”
- Cardboard cases with four 10-lb. chubs of “FIRE RIVER FARMS CLASSIC BEEF FINE GROUND 73L” (case code 19583), “Use/Freeze By: 02/04/26”
- Cardboard cases with four 10-lb. chubs of “FIRE RIVER FARMS CLASSIC BEEF FINE GROUND 81L” (case code 19563), “Use/Freeze By: 02/04/26”
These products bear the establishment number “EST. 630” inside the USDA mark of inspection and were shipped to distributors in California, Idaho, and Oregon for further distribution to foodservice locations.
The recall was initiated after FSIS testing at a downstream customer revealed the presence of E. coli O145. Fortunately, no illnesses have been reported. However, E. coli O145 can cause symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting, and in rare cases, more severe conditions like hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). Consumers experiencing symptoms should seek medical attention.
FSIS advises foodservice locations to discard or return the affected products. Consumers should ensure ground beef is cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F to kill harmful bacteria. A food thermometer is recommended for accuracy.
