Sempio Recalls Chicken Stew for Missing Import Inspection

Sempio Food Services Inc. is recalling about 4,596 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken stew imported from the Republic of Korea without proper import reinspection. This action is being taken with the knowledge of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Affected Products:

• 31.75-oz (900 g) pouches of “Sempio Korean Ginseng CHICKEN STEW CLASSIC”
• 31.75-oz (900 g) pouches of “Sempio Korean Ginseng CHICKEN STEW RICH”

These products have a best-by date of September 29, 2027, and bear the Korean establishment number “GIA15001” and shipping mark “MK-2026-0422-01”. They were distributed to retailers in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

Reason for Recall:

The recall was initiated because the products were imported without the benefit of import reinspection, discovered during routine FSIS surveillance activities.

Consumer Guidance:

Consumers who have purchased these products should not consume them. They should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase. Retailers are advised not to sell these products. No illnesses or injuries have been reported, but anyone concerned should contact a healthcare provider.
