Recall: PEDIGREE Dog Food for Potential Metal and Plastic Contamination

Mars Petcare US, Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of two lots of PEDIGREE® Can High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor Wet Dog Food. This recall is due to potential contamination with metal and plastic foreign material, posing a risk to pets.
Affected Products:
- Product: PEDIGREE® Can High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor 13.2oz for dogs
- Lot codes: 613C3KKCFC & 613C1KKCFCS
Reason for Recall: The recall was initiated after discovering that the products, intended for destruction, were fraudulently distributed and sold. The presence of sharp metal and plastic pieces could lead to choking, lacerations, or blockages in a dog's gastrointestinal tract.
Consumer Guidance: Consumers who have purchased the affected products should not feed them to their pets. Instead, they should contact PEDIGREE Consumer Care for a replacement. For assistance, call 1-800-525-5273, available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM CDT, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM CDT. Currently, there have been no reports of pet illness or injury related to this recall. Mars Petcare is cooperating with authorities to investigate how these products entered the marketplace. This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
