Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets, Inc., based in Lakewood, Colorado, has issued a recall for its Natural Grocers Brand Organic 2-Pound Mung Beans. This action is due to the potential presence of glass fragments in the product, which poses a risk of injury to consumers.
The recall affects mung beans packaged in 2-pound clear plastic bags with UPC 000080112600. The specific pack dates involved are 26-160, 26-173, 26-196, 26-224, and 26-258, found in the lower left corner of the label. These products were distributed to Natural Grocers stores in several states, including Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, starting from June 10, 2026.
The recall was initiated following customer complaints about sharp glass fragments found in the product. Consuming glass fragments can lead to injuries such as damage to teeth, lacerations in the mouth and throat, or even perforation of the intestine. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far.
Consumers who have purchased the affected mung beans should stop using them immediately. They can either discard the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or store credit.
