Recall of Fish Skin Crackers Due to Import Violation

This is a Class I recall — the most serious type. Products covered by this recall may cause serious health consequences or death.
Asian America Trading, Inc. is recalling around 996 pounds of ready-to-eat fish skin products due to an import violation. These products, made from Pangasius fish, were produced in China, which is not authorized to export ready-to-eat Siluriformes products to the U.S.
The recalled items include:
- 50-g plastic bags of “CRISPY FISH SKIN CRACKERS, SALTED EGG”
- 50-g plastic bags of “FISH SKIN CRACKERS, SPICY FLAVOUR”
- 50-g plastic bags of “UN CHI CRISP FISH SKIN, Wasabi Flavour”
- 50-g plastic bags of “UN CHI CRISP FISH SKIN, Laver Flavour”
These products were shipped to retail locations in California. The issue was identified during routine surveillance by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
There have been no reported illnesses or injuries from consuming these products. However, consumers are advised not to eat them. The products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
