Misbranding Alert: Turkey Pastries May Contain Ham
Public Health Alert
This is a USDA/FSIS Public Health Alert. Unlike a recall, the company has not issued a voluntary recall, but FSIS is alerting consumers to a potential food safety concern.
A public health alert has been issued for frozen ready-to-eat turkey stuffed pastry products due to misbranding. Some boxes labeled as turkey, pesto, and cheese stuffed pastries may actually contain ham and cheese instead.
Products Affected:
- 25.4-oz. boxes of “LA BOULANGERIE TURKEY PESTO & SWISS CHEESE POCKETS”
- Lot code: 04926
- Best by date: 02/18/27
- Establishment number: “P-51243A” inside the USDA mark of inspection
These products were shipped to Costco locations across the Midwest. The issue was discovered following two consumer complaints about mislabeled boxes.
Reason for Alert:
The alert was issued because the product contains ham and cheese instead of the labeled turkey, pesto, and cheese. This misbranding could affect those with dietary restrictions or allergies.
Consumer Guidance:
Consumers should check their freezers for the affected product. If found, the product can be returned to the place of purchase. There have been no reported adverse reactions, but anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
