Nassar Investments has issued a recall for its Malazi Tahina due to potential Salmonella contamination. This recall affects 1Kg bottles with the UPC 6 224011 088244 and an expiration date of 30/12/2026.
The recall was initiated after the North Carolina Department of Agriculture found Salmonella in a product sample. While no illnesses have been reported, Salmonella can cause serious infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. It can also lead to miscarriages or stillbirths in pregnant women.
The affected tahina was distributed between March 1, 2025, and June 9, 2025, and sold in retail stores in Michigan and North Carolina. Consumers are advised to discard any affected products.
