Kroger Cheese Garlic Croutons Recalled for Salmonella Risk
Class I Recall — Most Serious
This is a Class I recall — the most serious type. Products covered by this recall may cause serious health consequences or death.
Sugar Foods LLC has announced a recall of specific lots of Kroger Homestyle Cheese Garlic Croutons due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall affects 5 oz pouches with UPC 0 11110 81353 4.
The recall is being conducted because the milk powder used in the seasoning of these croutons, supplied by California Dairies, Inc., may be contaminated with Salmonella. Although the affected seasoning batches tested negative for Salmonella before use, the recall is a precautionary measure following a third-party supplier-initiated recall.
The recalled croutons have "Best If Used By" dates ranging from February 17, 2027, to April 7, 2027. They were distributed to Kroger stores in several states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. Consumers who have purchased the affected croutons are advised to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or discard them. For more information, consumers can contact Sugar Foods LLC at 332-240-6676, available 24/7.
This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
