Ajinomoto Foods Recalls Chicken Fried Rice for Glass Contamination

Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. has issued a recall for approximately 36,987,575 pounds of chicken and pork fried rice, ramen, and shu mai dumpling products due to potential contamination with glass. This recall includes both ready-to-eat and not ready-to-eat items.

The affected products include:

• 1.53-kg cardboard packages of frozen “AJINOMOTO YAKITORI CHICKEN WITH JAPANESE-STYLE FRIED RICE” with best before dates from September 9, 2026, to November 12, 2026, exported to Canada.
• 20-oz plastic bags of “TRADER JOE’S Chicken Fried Rice” with best by dates from September 8, 2026, to November 17, 2026, distributed nationwide in the U.S.

These products bear the establishment number P-18356 inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The recall was initiated following four consumer complaints about glass found in the products. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Consumers are advised not to eat these products and should dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.
