Class I Recall — Most Serious
This is a Class I recall — the most serious type. Products covered by this recall may cause serious health consequences or death.
A.S.K. Foods, LLC has announced a recall of certain 32 oz. containers of Publix Rice & Pigeon Peas due to undeclared soy. This recall is important for individuals with soy allergies, as consuming the product could lead to serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.
Products Affected:
- Publix Rice & Pigeon Peas, sold in 32 oz. plastic trays.
- Available exclusively at Publix stores in Florida.
- Look for a top label indicating Publix Rice & Pigeon Peas, with a bottom label starting with CAVATAPPI PASTA and a lid code of “5387-4”, “5387-5” or “5387-6”.
Reason for Recall:
The recall was issued because the packaging mistakenly includes an ingredient statement for Three Cheese Mac & Cheese, which does not list soy. Soy is present in the Rice & Pigeon Peas, posing a risk to those with soy allergies.
What Consumers Should Do:
- Do not consume the product if you have a soy allergy.
- Return the product to the store for a full refund.
