Khong Guan Corporation has expanded its recall of certain glutinous rice ball products due to undeclared peanuts, posing a risk to those with peanut allergies. The recall now includes both the 'Glutinous Rice Balls with Black Sesame Filling' and 'Black & White Glutinous Rice Balls with Black Sesame Filling'.
Products Affected:
- Glutinous Rice Balls with Black Sesame Filling; UPC: 6908791000053; Use By Dates: 9/22/2027 and 10/19/2027
- Black & White Glutinous Rice Balls with Black Sesame Filling; UPC: 6908791000084; Use By Date: 10/19/2027
These products are packaged in 14.1 oz flexible plastic bags and were distributed in several states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and Washington, through both online and retail stores between June 2, 2026, and July 8, 2026.
Reason for Recall:
The recall was initiated after a customer reported the presence of peanuts in the Glutinous Rice Balls with Black Sesame Filling. Further investigation led to the inclusion of the Black & White variant due to similar concerns. The packaging failed to disclose the presence of peanuts, which can cause serious or life-threatening reactions in individuals with peanut allergies.
Consumer Action:
