Imperio Distribution Recalls Beef Jerky for Misbranding and No Inspection
Class I Recall — Most Serious
This is a Class I recall — the most serious type. Products covered by this recall may cause serious health consequences or death.
Imperio Distribution LLC is recalling about 946 pounds of ready-to-eat beef jerky due to misbranding and lack of federal inspection. This recall affects products distributed in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
Affected Products:
- 2 oz. sealed bag of "IMPERIO FUEGO BEEF JERKY (CARNE SECA)"
- 2 oz. sealed bag of "IMPERIO ORIGINAL BEEF JERKY (CARNE SECA)"
- 2 oz. sealed bag of "IMPERIO LIMÓN BEEF JERKY (CARNE SECA)"
The products were packaged between January and October 2026 and bear an unauthorized USDA mark of inspection from establishment number "1885."
Reason for Recall:
The recall was initiated because the beef jerky was produced without federal inspection and used another facility's USDA mark of inspection without authorization. This issue was identified during routine FSIS surveillance activities.
Consumer Guidance:
Consumers are advised not to consume these products. They should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase. There have been no reported illnesses or injuries, but food produced without inspection may pose health risks, including undeclared allergens or harmful bacteria.
