Frozen Dino Chicken Nuggets Alert: Possible Lead Contamination
Public Health Alert
This is a USDA/FSIS Public Health Alert. Unlike a recall, the company has not issued a voluntary recall, but FSIS is alerting consumers to a potential food safety concern.
A public health alert has been issued for frozen, dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets due to potential lead contamination. Although these nuggets are no longer available for purchase, they may still be in consumers' freezers.
Products Affected:
- 29-oz. plastic bags of “GREAT VALUE FULLY COOKED DINO SHAPED CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS”
- Best if used by: FEB 10 2027
- Lot code: 0416DPO1215
- Establishment number: P44164
These products were distributed to Walmart locations nationwide.
Reason for Alert:
Routine surveillance found unsafe lead levels, potentially five times higher than the FDA's interim reference level for children. Lead exposure is particularly harmful to pregnant women, infants, and young children, affecting brain and nervous system development.
Consumer Guidance:
Consumers should not eat these nuggets. They should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase. For questions, contact John Patrick Lopez at [email protected]. For food safety inquiries, call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854 or email [email protected]. Issues can also be reported via the online complaint system.
